Ubud, located on the Indonesian island of Bali, is one of those places that you can spend an entire week and never get bored. There are plenty of gorgeous rice terraces, temples, waterfalls, and affordable luxury hotels with infinity pools. It is also an easy home base if you want to make a day trip to Northern Bali.
Generally speaking, Bali is crowded and the traffic is excessive. The further north you go, the more remote it becomes. One of the reasons why I love Ubud is because you can disconnect and feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of other popular destinations on the island.
HERE ARE MY TOP 3 HOTEL EXPERIENCES IN UBUD, BALI
I felt inspired to stay at the Kamandalu Ubud after browsing through pictures on Instagram. Its serene tropical setting is the ultimate place to forget what day of the week it is. Without a doubt the highlight of this hotel is its floating breakfast served in the Presidential Suite infinity pool, which is available upon request.
Prior to my arrival I exchanged e-mails with the Food and Beverage Manager, who was exceptionally cordial, to arrange a customized dream breakfast spread. I chose to have a colorful, healthy selection consisting of local fruit platters, chia pudding, fresh coconuts, green tea, and more! Anyone who is a breakfast lover like me will be eager to enjoy this unique experience. It’s not everyday that you can wake up, slip on your swimsuit, and head straight to a stunning infinity pool for breakfast. Within minutes a friendly waiter delivers a floating tray with a delicious feast. Take your time eating your meal, swim some laps, and appreciate the serenity around you. I bet it will be the most memorable morning of your vacation.
HOT RIVER STONE MASSAGE
As a spa junkie, I knew I had to visit the Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, during my trip to Ubud. The resort’s website perfectly describes it as, “a sanctuary for inner exploration and tranquility.” The spa menu offers a variety of treatments that you would expect to find at a luxurious hotel spa. What sets the Mandapa Spa apart is the setting, facilities, and therapists, all of which are unparalleled.
No wonder it is praised as a top wellness retreat. Non-hotel guests who book a spa treatment have the privilege to access the vitality pools, yoga pavilion, and more. The hotel asks you to arrive one hour prior to your appointment time so you can properly unwind. I couldn’t have been more pleased with my signature 90-minute experience, the Mandapa Hot River Stone Massage, which included a rice and honey body exfoliation followed by a rejuvenating hot stone massage with warm essential oils.
I highly recommend this treatment. For the cherry on the cake, ask the spa receptionist to reserve the Mandapa Suite. You can enjoy this spa suite alone or with your significant other. It boasts a private hydrotherapy jacuzzi, relaxation area, separate treatment areas, and amazing views of the Ayung River. Be sure to check the Balinese jewelry, bath salts, and skincare products available for purchase upon check out. My family and friends loved these one-of-a-kind souvenirs.
FLOWER BATH IN UBUD, BALI
This is another must! My Ubud itinerary was packed so I only made time for one flower bath. I arranged a two-hour Javanese Royal Lulur Bath treatment at the famous COMO Shambhala Estate. While it was a memorable afternoon, I think there are better options for this experience. I’d like to recommend three places that are on my list for my next trip to Bali. For the ultimate flower bath, book a stay or “Celebration of Flowers” spa treatment at The Udaya Resort. You’ll be amazed with the vibrant display of flower petals floating on the top of your warm bath.
FIVELEMENT IS ANOTHER GREAT OPTION
This eco-conscious wellness retreat offers five different bathing rituals that are available for overnight guests and exclusive day visitors alike.Take advantage of the special offers that are frequently listed on their website. My third choice, especially for couples, is Villa Cella Bella, which is taking this dreamy trend to the next level. My jaw dropped when I saw recent photos and videos of this Airbnb. The staff work meticulously to decorate the villa’s infinity pool with thousands of flowers. It is absolutely striking and SO romantic!
